Award-Winning Senior Architecture and Interior Design that Incorporates the Neighborhood
With 132 units, Modena Reserve contains 62 units for Independent Living (IL), 46 units for Assisted Living (AL) and 24 units for Memory Care (MC), along with a full complement of service and amenity spaces, akin to an exclusive, 5-star, service-focused community. Art classes, coffee at the train depot, card games with friends and activities that stimulate the mind, body, and spirit, like fitness classes, cooking demonstrations, and concerts, can be experienced in-person or live streaming in the residence. The design included the selection of all interior finishes, lighting, furniture, window treatments, artwork and accessories.
Materials, images and color themes were selected to relate to the surrounding neighborhood and encourage engagement and participation by the community-at-large. From the moment a potential resident drives up to the building, walks in the front door, and takes a tour, the building is designed to market. It is a series of magnificent first impressions. The interior design approaches were to: create eye-catching elements that pull you in and then create the next eye-catching moment; coordinate colors to connect spaces; harness the tall ceilings with elements such as lighting and art that suspend from the ceiling to separate space and add intrigue; and design a variety of ceiling types to keep the eyes moving. Being adjacent to a commuter rail line, it was imperative to design an opportunity to view the trains, if desired, but hear them. Soundproofing was applied to the exterior walls and windows.
As part of the Solera Senior Living suite, Modena Reserve’s philosophy breaks down barriers between Assisted and Independent Living by providing a crossover of lifestyles. Solera’s Lifestyle Integration focuses on creating relationships and reducing ageism rather than segregating residents based on ADLs.
Modena Reserve won the 2024 NAHB Best of 55+ Housing Award and 2022 SHN Senior Architecture and Interior Design Award for CCRC/LPC Lite. See our other award-winning projects here!
